U11 Ignite Staff

Ignite Head Coach Helen Daly Helen Daly is entering her fourth year with MOJO Elite. She has been both the head and assistant coach of our 11s team and the head coach of our 15s team.  Coach Daly is excited to be back with 11s this year leading the pack!  She played 3 years on varsity in high school at St. John’s College High School. She went on to University of Rhode Island where she walked onto their D1 program. Upon transferring to Towson University she started playing Club volleyball for the school. In her Senior year, she became the president of the program where she coached, played and ran the team. Coach Daly earned her Bachelors from Towson University in Exercise Science. She currently works part time a National Rehabilitation Hospital as a Physical Therapy Technician and a Spin Instructor at the YMCA in Bethesda. She is enthusiastic and energetic when she coaches and is more than excited to be the Head Coach for Ignite!

Ignite Asst Coach Eleanor Richard - This is Coach Eleanor's first year on MOJO Elite's coaching staff, but Coach Eleanor is no stranger to MOJO's Elite program.  Coach Eleanor is a former player of MOJO Elite and attends McLean High School right around the corner from our practice facility.  She is very knowledgeable in MOJO Elite's training philosophies and coaching techniques.  She is IMPACT and SafeSport certified and is excited to assist with MOJO Ignite this season! 

12s Sparks and Sizzle Staff

Sparks Head Coach and Technical Director John Delaney - Coach John Delaney is going into his 29th year as a volleyball coach. He started in 1990 as a student assistant coach with his high school's varsity volleyball team. In 1995, he was the junior varsity head coach at Niagara Falls High School, after which he started coaching club volleyball at Cheetah/Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club (WEVA). 

In 2000, he became the head coach of the American University Club Volleyball team. Upon returning to Western New York, he continued working with Niagara Frontier and coached the Niagara County Community College (NJCAA) volleyball team. In 2007, he moved back to Maryland and began working with the Bay Area Volleyball Club (BAVA 13/14s/16s) for 3 seasons, then moved on to the Arlington Volleyball Club (12s), while also developing beginners through their youth leagues. He also became the Washington-Lee Varsity Head Coach in 2010, winning the school's first district title in 2014. 

In 2012, he founded the MOJO Volleyball Academy, which has developed many volleyball players from McLean, Arlington, and Alexandria areas. He is active in youth development in volleyball and has coached the MOJO's 12s and 13s programs for 7 seasons. His teams have won the last two MOJO Cup Championships. 

Coach John was an elementary physical education teacher for 17 years, before switching to classroom teaching. This year, he is a 1st grade teacher at Northview ES in Bowie, MD.  

He lives in Rockville, MD with his wife, Mahrya, daughter Monreaux, and dog Petey.  He plays golf, ice hockey, and loves the New York Rangers, New York Mets, and Buffalo Bills. 

Sparks Asst Coach Katherine Pane - This is Coach KP's first year on MOJO Elite's coaching staff, but Coach KP is no stranger to MOJO's Elite program.  She is a former player of MOJO Elite and plays varsity volleyball with Stone Ridge School in Bethesda.  She is very knowledgeable in MOJO Elite's training philosophies and coaching techniques.  She is IMPACT and SafeSport certified and is excited to assist with MOJO Sparks this season! 

Sparks Asst Coach Audrey Batcheller - Coach Audrey is a recent graduate of the University of Virginia where she played on the club volleyball team.  The team has gone to Nationals all but one year since it started, ranking in the top 20 each year and generally finishing in the top 10.  She grew up playing volleyball in the Northern Virigina area.  She was a starting middle hitter on the Washington Lee High School District Champions team under Club Director, John Delaney's coaching.  

Sizzle Head Coach Samar Elgharib - Before joining MOJO, Coach Samar worked for 2 years in McLean and Vienna leagues and made a big impact on the girls. She was also the Age Group coordinator for the 4th and 5th grade girls volleyball leagues in McLean. She completed the Coaching Youth Volleyball training and works great with young athletes.  She started playing volleyball at an early age and played for her varsity team back in college. Coach Samar played club volleyball in her home Country of Lebanon and took them to victory numerous times. She also played with the Lebanese National Team representing her country in tournaments and leagues. She was thrilled when her young daughter decided to play the game and share her passion. She holds a masters degree in IT Management and currently works as an IT manager in Downtown DC. She lives in McLean with her Husband and 2 kids where she has been a local for the past  20 years.  Coach Samar is IMPACT certified and SafeSport trained.

13s Heat and Flames Staff

Heat Asst Coach Reyna Hershberg - Coach Reyna is entering her second year on the coaching staff with MOJO Elite.  But Reyna is no stranger to the Elite program.  Reyna started her VB career playing for Coach Annie on our U12 Sparks team.  Reyna has earned many awards throughout her tenure with MOJO Elite, she helped lead a team to a Gold bracket win at CHRVA Championships, she has earned the MOJO Elite Coaches Award as well as MVP on multiple occasions.  This year Reyna decided she wanted to take a go at coaching and we are ecstatic to have her.  Reyna has aspirations to continue on to college and obtain her medical degree.

Coach Reyna is IMPACT certified and SafeSport trained.

Flames Head Coach Dana Hinden - Coach Dana Hinden is entering into her second year coaching with MOJO Elite and has been playing for 16 years. Coach Dana was a four-year Varsity volleyball player at Powhatan High School in southern Virginia, where she was a Captain and played outside and middle most of her career, and received several awards. Dana was recruited as an outside hitter to play Division 1 at Rider University in New Jersey and finished her career at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. There, she majored in English Communications and now works as an Engineering Project Manager for a Construction Firm in Northern, Va. She is IMPACT & SafeSport Certified.

14s Blaze Staff

Blaze Head Coach and President Mahrya O'Connor Delaney - Coach Mahrya has been coaching for 17 years throughout many of the local clubs. She grew up playing for MVSA volleyball, where she led her team to 2 National bids.  She was the starting setter for her 1997-1998 4A Maryland State Championship team.  She participated in the club volleyball program at Ohio University in Athens, OH where she earned a BA in Business and Sociology.  After college, she immediately got into coaching volleyball.  Teaching our youth has always been a passion of hers.  Coach Mahrya has been coaching 14s since 2005 for various clubs throughout the region.  Her teams have consistently performed in the top 15 of the region and she has brought the MOJO Cup home twice since MOJO Elite's beginning.  In her off time she enjoys spending time with her family and her chihuahua Petey!

Coach Mahrya is IMPACT certified, SafeSport, Art of Coaching and Gold Medal Squared trained.

Blaze Asst Coach Heather Banikas - This is Coach Heather's 2nd year on MOJO Elite's coaching staff.  Last year Coach Heather assisted our regional 12s team.  She grew up playing volleyball in the Northern Virigina area.  She was a starting libero on the Washington Lee High School team under Club Director, John Delaney's coaching.  After graduation from the University of Mary Washington, Coach Heather earned a position as an early childhood educator in Arlington, VA.  She is IMPACT and SafeSport certified and is excited to assist with MOJO Blaze this season! 

Blaze Asst Coach Gabby Young - Coach Gabby has been on MOJO Volleyball Academy's summer staff for the past 3 seasons.  She is a former MOJO Elite player, recent JMU graduate, and former JMU club team captain.   She helped her club team to earn the UREC Sport Club of the Year.  Coach Gabby recently graduated with a degree in International Affairs and served as the marketing chair on the volleyball executive board at JMU.  

15s Inferno Staff

Inferno Head Coach Jasmine DeSilva - Coach Jasmine DeSilva is entering her 4th year with MOJO Elite.  Coach Jasmine was a four-year varsity volleyball player at Northern High School in Southern Maryland. She played middle and outside hitter most of her career, helping lead her team to a Maryland State championship title. Jasmine was recruited to play at the University of Pennsylvania, and soon earned a starting outside hitter and captain position. There, she majored in Health and Societies and now works as a research analyst for a health care company.

Coach Jasmine has participated in our private coaching events with USA Olympic Coach Joe Trinsey, she is also IMPACT and SafeSport certified.

Inferno Asst Coach Lexie Lucchesi - This is Lexie's 2nd year with MOJO Elite as a coach, but she has been with our program as an elite player and summer staff coach for over 5 years.  She recently graduated from The College of Charleston with a bachelor's in Exercise Science.  She is a certified personal trainer.  This past high school season, she served as Bishop O'Connell's Varsity Assistant Coach.  

Coach Lexie is IMPACT and SafeSport Certified.

Floating Staff:

Coach Chelsea McDonald: Coach Chelsea is originally from Pateley Bridge, England. Chelsea was born into an air force family that settled in Crofton, Maryland. Growing up she played as an outside hitter at South River High School in Edgewater, MD. Her volleyball career began at an early age of 12 for Bay Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) and continued on for Maryland Juniors where she played in many tournaments across the country.  In college, Coach Chelsea was the starting Middle Blocker all four years at Concordia in New York, NCAA Division II. As captain and scholar-athlete, she was ranked the #3 overall blocker and #8 in points earned by a player in school history.  Coach Chelsea began her coaching career at Downstate Volleyball Club in New York. The past few years she has enjoyed coaching private lessons and clinics. In 2012, she was the head coach of the top 14s team for Downstate. In 2013 she moved back to the DC area where she came on board as the MOJO head coach for 14s Blaze. The following year she moved up to the head coach as the 15s team and we think she's found her niche!  Chelsea is IMPACT and CPR certified. Her biggest coaching goal is to train volleyball players to become college athletes.

Coach Chelsea teaches 4th grade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Special Education: Exceptionalities. She hopes one day to become a school administrator.

Coach Helen Alexander - Coach Helen Alexander is leading her 7th Varsity season as Program Director at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST). As a former NCAA Division I volleyball player from UMBC, Coach Helen is plugged into the collegiate recruitment process, and has graduated 5 NCAA players over the course of her career. Coach Helen has been coaching volleyball since 2005 at both the high school and elite club levels, and has competed at the USAV Nationals OPEN Level in 2001 and 2002, consecutively, for MVSA. 

Coach Helen is an avid believer in simplicity of movement, and consistency in practice. She follows the Gold Medal Squared System, and has been integral in building MOJO Elite’s relationship with GMS Coach, and former USA Assistant Coach, Joe Trinsey. Through her college coach, Ian Blanchard, Coach Helen has been trained by and trained with some of the best coaches in the nation; and she is honored to share her passion for the sport with more strong-willed athletes, hungry to win!!! 

Last season Coach Helen lead her 16s MOJO Explosion team to 2 undefeated tournaments, 3 Gold Bracket Finals, and ranked 11th overall in CHRVA. If you are a tough competitor, a smart player, and in relentless pursuit of excellence, then you’re the player for me!!! #mojopride #mojo4life 

Coach Michael Alexander - Coach Mike has been coaching volleyball for 13 years. He coached for 4 years with Columbia Volleyball Club in Columbia, MD. This will be Coach Mike's eighth year with MOJO Elite.  He has served as the varsity volleyball coach for Dr. Henry Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and held that position for 8 years until he decided to focus on acquiring his Junior National Referee certification this past fall.   

For MOJO, Coach Mike has coached both our youngest and oldest teams.  He enjoys the both the high intensity and fast pace of the 18s program, but the true improvement that can be seen and the impact that you can make with a 12s team.

In High School, Coach Mike was a 3 sport athlete, playing Basketball, Football and Track & Field all 4 years.  Coach Mike attended Edinboro Univeristy of PA where he played club volleyball, and ran Track & Field for 4 years. Coach Mike went on to play Semi-professional Football for 2 years post-college.  Coach Mike LOVEs to coach AND play!  He has been dominating various levels of volleyball for the past 13 years, sand, grass, and indoor.

Coach Mike is certified in IMPACT and SafeSport.  He has his CAP I certification as well as being our in-house referee.  He is a Junior National Referee.
