14s Blaze and Fire Staff
Blaze Head Coach and President Mahrya O'Connor Delaney - Coach Mahrya has been coaching for 15 years throughout many of the local clubs. She grew up playing for MVSA volleyball, where she led her team to 2 National bids. She was the starting setter for her 1997-1998 4A Maryland State Championship team. She participated in the club volleyball program at Ohio University in Athens, OH where she earned a BA in Business and Sociology. After college, she immediately got into coaching volleyball. Teaching our youth has always been a passion of hers. Coach Mahrya has been coaching 14s since 2005 for various clubs throughout the region. Her teams have consistently performed in the top 15 of the region and she has brought the MOJO Cup home twice since MOJO Elite's beginning. This past fall Coach Mahrya was the JV Coach of McLean High School leading the team to a winning record!
Coach Mahrya is IMPACT certified, SafeSport, Art of Coaching and Gold Medal Squared trained.
Blaze Asst Coach Jessica Whitten - Coach Jessica developed her love for volleyball growing up in Omaha, NE, home of the 2015 NCAA Championship team. She was an outside hitter and DS for her high school team. She attended college at the University of Wyoming where she earned her degree in Business and Marketing. This is Coach Jessica's 4th year with MOJO Elite.
Coach Jessica is IMPACT Certified and SafeSport trained.
Blaze Asst Coach Mike Gimon - Coach Gimon is entering his 15th year as Chesapeake High School's (CHC) head coach. Coach Gimon has 24 years of coaching experience ranging from youth league (United States Youth Volleyball League) to Middle School League to club (U12's, U13's and U14's) to varsity athletics. Coach Gimon is also the assistant athletic director with CHC and the State Tournament Director for the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association. Coach Gimon is IMPACT certified and Gold Medal Squared trained. He is also our parent liaison, if you have a question or concern regarding MOJO policy, he is your point of contact.
Fire Head Coach Samantha Stewart - Coach Samantha Stewart is the head coach of Fire 14s. Starting at age 7, she has spent her volleyball career as a setter and defensive specialist. She played on her high school team in Akron, Ohio before moving to Blacksburg, Virginia to attend college. At Virginia Tech, she participated in the club volleyball program. After graduation, she moved to Fairfax and quickly became involved with the Mojo family. Samantha just finished her first year as the McLean High School freshman volleyball coach and this is her first club season with Mojo.
Outside of volleyball, Samantha is a designer at an interior architecture firm in Falls Church. She loves to support the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians, as well as the Virginia Tech Hokies! Coach Samantha loves to bake and frequently brings goodies for her team to enjoy.

Fire Asst Coach Paul - Coach Paul grew up playing beach volleyball on the sands of the Jersey shore. In college, Paul transitioned to indoor and played club volleyball at the University of Maryland. Last year, Paul was an assistant coach for the 16s Mojo Explosion helping lead them to a number of first place tournaments and the ultimate bragging rights of hoisting the Mojo cup. Paul is driven to bring the best out of each player and loves tapping into unique motivational techniques to get the team going. He is a consistent and constant preacher of discipline, work ethic, and team chemistry.

15s Inferno Staff
Inferno Head Coach Helen Daly - Helen Daly is entering her second year with MOJO Elite. Last year she was the Assistant Coach for Ignite. She played 3 years on varsity in high school at St. John’s College High School. She went on to University of Rhode Island where she walked onto their D1 program. Upon transferring to Towson University she started playing Club volleyball for the school. In her Senior year, she became the president of the program where she coached, played and ran the team. Helen earned her Bachelors from Towson University in Exercise Science. She currently works part time a National Rehabilitation Hospital as a Physical Therapy Technician and a Spin Instructor at the YMCA in Bethesda. She is enthusiastic and energetic when she coaches and is more than excited to be the Head Coach for Inferno!
Inferno Asst Coach Larry DeFillipo - Coach Larry DeFillipo, IMPACT and CAP I certified, has been assistant coach for the MOJO Elite 15 Inferno for the past 3 seasons. Last year, Larry helped guide Inferno to an all-time best record, winning gold medals in two 15/16s tournaments as well as the Gold Division B bracket at CHRVA Regionals. Before joining MOJO, Larry was an assistant coach for a 16s Open team that earned a bid to the 2014 USAV Girls Junior National Championships, was head coach for a 15s club team and spent several years coaching middle school teams in various Northern Va. youth leagues. Larry has coached many girls who’ve become standout varsity players, including players who’ve earned Virginia and DC High School League MVP, All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors, several currently playing Division III volleyball. Before coaching, Larry played volleyball as an opposite hitter for over 30 years on men’s and coed club teams up and down the East Coast.
Larry enjoys teaching girls how to compete at volleyball, including game strategies, running a creative offense, anticipating the play, reading an opponent, and making self-adjustments during competition. He applies his engineering background to analyze match statistics and to help girls understand how to control the ball to maximize their chances for success.
Outside of volleyball, Larry spends his days helping design, build, test and launch satellites for NASA, DOD and customers from around the world as an aerospace engineer with Orbital ATK in Dulles. Larry lives in Reston with his wife Kelly and two very black cats, Katness and Kassie.
17/18s Burn Staff
Burn Head Coach Mike Alexander - Coach Mike has been coaching volleyball for 10 years. He coached for 4 years with Columbia Volleyball Club in Columbia, MD. This will be Coach Mike's fifth year with MOJO Elite. He is currently the Head Coach at Dr. Henry Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and has held that position for the last 8 years.
In High School, Coach Mike was a 3 sport athlete, playing Basketball, Football and Track & Field all 4 years. Coach Mike attended Edinboro Univeristy of PA where he played club volleyball, and ran Track & Field for 4 years. Coach Mike went on to play Semi-professional Football for 2 years post-college. Coach Mike LOVEs to coach AND play! He has been dominating various levels of volleyball for the past 12 years, sand, grass, and indoor.
Coach Mike is certified in IMPACT and SafeSport. He has his CAP I certification as well as being our in-house referee. He is a Junior National Referee.
Burn Practice Coach Jasmine Desilva - Jasmine DeSilva was a four-year varsity volleyball player at Northern High School in Southern Maryland. She played middle and outside hitter most of her career, helping lead her team to a Maryland State championship title. Jasmine was recruited to play at the University of Pennsylvania, and soon earned a starting outside hitter position. There, she majored and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Health and Societies. She now works as a research analyst for a health care company.

Explosion Head Coach Helen Alexander - Coach Helen Alexander is leading her 7th Varsity season as Program Director at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST). As a former NCAA Division I volleyball player from UMBC, Coach Helen is plugged into the collegiate recruitment process, and has graduated 5 NCAA players over the course of her career. Coach Helen has been coaching volleyball since 2005 at both the high school and elite club levels, and has competed at the USAV Nationals OPEN Level in 2001 and 2002, consecutively, for MVSA.
Coach Helen is an avid believer in simplicity of movement, and consistency in practice. She follows the Gold Medal Squared System, and has been integral in building MOJO Elite’s relationship with GMS Coach, and former USA Assistant Coach, Joe Trinsey. Through her college coach, Ian Blanchard, Coach Helen has been trained by and trained with some of the best coaches in the nation; and she is honored to share her passion for the sport with more strong-willed athletes, hungry to win!!!
Last season Coach Helen lead her 16s MOJO Explosion team to 2 undefeated tournaments, 3 Gold Bracket Finals, and ranked 11th overall in CHRVA. If you are a tough competitor, a smart player, and in relentless pursuit of excellence, then you’re the player for me!!! #mojopride #mojo4life

Heat Head Coach Eva Muszynski - Eva is entering her 1st year with MOJO Elite, but has coached with MOJO Volleyball's summer programs since 2011. Eva was a 3 year varsity player with Yorktown High School and helped lead her team to the VA High School League's National District Championship her senior year. After high school, Eva went on to study Marine Biology at the University of Miami. Now she works for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as a research assistant.
Coach Eva is IMPACT certified and SafeSport trained.
Heat Asst Coach Jourdan Jones, aka Coach JJ - Coach JJ was a 4 year varsity athlete with Northern High School in Owings, MD. She was recruited by Alderson Broaddus University as a defensive specialist, but ended up being utilized as a setter throughout her tenure there. There she earned her degree in Chemistry and Criminal Justice. She is a former player of Coach Mike and Coach Mahrya when they coached together in 2007 and the perfect addition to the MOJO staff. When not coaching Coach JJ volunteers with the Special Olympics and enjoys getting outdoors with her boyfriend and adorable French Bulldog, Rex.
12s Sparks and Ignite Staff
Sparks Head Coach and Technical Director John Delaney -John Delaney is going into his 26th year as a volleyball coach. He started in 1990 as a student assistant coach with his high school's varsity volleyball team. In 1995, he was the junior varsity head coach at Niagara Falls High School, after which he started coaching club volleyball at Cheetah/Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club (WEVA).
In 2000, he became the head coach of the American University Club Volleyball team. Upon returning to Western New York, he continued working with Niagara Frontier and coached the Niagara County Community College (NJCAA) volleyball team. In 2007, he moved back to Maryland and began working with the Bay Area Volleyball Club (BAVA 13/14s/16s) for 3 seasons, then moved on to the Arlington Volleyball Club (12s), while also developing beginners through their youth leagues. He also became the Washington-Lee Varsity Head Coach in 2010, winning the school's first district title in 2014.
In 2012, he founded the MOJO Volleyball Academy, which has developed many volleyball players from McLean, Arlington, and Alexandria areas. He is active in youth development in volleyball and has coached the MOJO's 12s and 13s programs for 5 seasons.
Coach John was an elementary physical education teacher for 17 years, before switching to 4th grade classroom teaching this year. He is married to his lovely wife Mahrya, has a daughter named Monreaux, and two dogs, Buckley and Petey. He plays golf, ice hockey, and loves the New York Rangers, New York Mets, and Buffalo Bills.
Sparks Asst Coach Lindsey Hunter - Coach Lindsey is in her 3rd year with MOJO Elite. She grew up playing volleyball in the Northern Virginia area. She went on to college at Virginia Tech, where she was an active participant in the club team. Her team participated in the Gold Bracket of the NCVF National tournament. Coach Lindsey and Coach John are the perfect duo to bring the love of volleyball to MOJO Elite youth.

Ignite Head Coach Jun Cordoba - this is Jun's 3rd year with MOJO Elite. He has truly learned from the best. His first year he assisted MOJO Ignite with Head Coach Mike Alexander. The following year he was fortunate enough to work with Technical Director and all around great guy, John Delaney. Together they led Ignite to a 9th place finish at Revolutionary Rumble, the best finish in Ignite history. Last year was Coach Jun's first year leading the Ignite team with Coach Helen. Jun has learned from the best and will be leading this Ignite group again this year.

Ignite Asst Coach Makenna Jenkins - Coach Makenna is a former player of MOJO Elite. She has grown up playing volleyball. Makenna played for MOJO Elite on both our 16s and 18s team. Through work with MOJO's youth league and summer programs, Makenna has developed a knack of teaching our youth. Makenna is currently a senior at Paul IV HS and plans to attend college next fall.
Chelsea McDonald: Coach Chelsea is originally from Pateley Bridge, England. Chelsea was born into an air force family that settled in Crofton, Maryland. Growing up she played as an outside hitter at South River High School in Edgewater, MD. Her volleyball career began at an early age of 12 for Bay Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) and continued on for Maryland Juniors where she played in many tournaments across the country. In college, Coach Chelsea was the starting Middle Blocker all four years at Concordia in New York, NCAA Division II. As captain and scholar-athlete, she was ranked the #3 overall blocker and #8 in points earned by a player in school history. Coach Chelsea began her coaching career at Downstate Volleyball Club in New York. The past few years she has enjoyed coaching private lessons and clinics. In 2012, she was the head coach of the top 14s team for Downstate. In 2013 she moved back to the DC area where she came on board as the MOJO head coach for 14s Blaze. The following year she moved up to the head coach as the 15s team and we think she's found her niche! Chelsea is IMPACT and CPR certified. Her biggest coaching goal is to train volleyball players to become college athletes.
Coach Chelsea teaches 4th grade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Special Education: Exceptionalities. She hopes one day to become a school administrator.

Sparks Head Coach Coach Annie Baratto - Annie is heading into her 6th season with MOJO Elite. She grew up in Salinas, California playing volleyball on the beaches of Monterey. Once you meet Coach Annie, you'll never forget her; she is part of the heart and soul of this organization. She started as a parent of a successful club volleyball player and saw all the rewards that coaching has to offer. She helped start MOJO Elite in 2011 as the head coach of MOJO Sparks. Coach Annie has gone on to lead her 2013 team to a MOJO Cup victory. Also that year, she helped lead the Thomas Jefferson High School Colonials to their Capital Conference Championship, bringing their first volleyball banner into the gym.
Coach Annie is IMPACT certified, SafeSport trained, and our hotel coordinator.
