Head Coach Chelsea McDonald: Coach Chelsea is originally from Pateley Bridge, England. Chelsea was born into an air force family that settled in Crofton, Maryland. Growing up she played as an outside hitter at South River High School in Edgewater, MD. Her volleyball career began at an early age of 12 for Bay Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) and continued on for Maryland Juniors where she played in many tournaments across the country. In college, Coach Chelsea was the starting Middle Blocker all four years at Concordia in New York, NCAA Division II. As captain and scholar-athlete, she was ranked the #3 overall blocker and #8 in points earned by a player in school history. Coach Chelsea began her coaching career at Downstate Volleyball Club in New York. The past few years she has enjoyed coaching private lessons and clinics. In 2012, she was the head coach of the top 14s team for Downstate. In 2013 she moved back to the DC area where she came on board as the MOJO head coach for 14s Blaze. The following year she moved up to the head coach as the 15s team and we think she's found her niche! Chelsea is IMPACT and CPR certified. Her biggest coaching goal is to train volleyball players to become college athletes.
Coach Chelsea teaches 4th grade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Special Education: Exceptionalities. She hopes one day to become a school administrator.

Asst Coach Larry DeFillipo - IMPACT and CAP I certified, has been coaching girls’ volleyball for the past 10 seasons in Northern Virginia. For the past 2 season, Coach Larry and Coach Chelsea have been the dynamic duo heading up our 15s Inferno. Prior to that he was assistant coach of the Vienna Elite 16s team that finished 3rd in CHRVA’s OPEN division and earned a bid to the 2014 USAV Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships in Minneapolis. Previously, Larry was co-head coach of the 2013 Vienna Elite 15s team that won 4 CHRVA & Dig Pink tournaments and finished in the top 10 of CHRVA clubs.
Larry was the head coach for an NVVA Fairfax 15s team and spent 5 years coaching middle school age teams in the Chantilly and Reston leagues. Larry has coached many girls who’ve become standout varsity players, including 8 who earned Virginia High School League All-Conference honors in the 2014 season alone.
Larry played competitive volleyball as a left-handed opposite for over 30 years, initially for several men’s and coed club teams in Wilmington, DE in the 1980's. Most recently, Larry competed in the men's 50-and-over division of the Maryland Senior Olympics in 2012.
Larry enjoys teaching girls how to compete at volleyball, including game strategies, running a creative offense, anticipating the play, reading an opponent and making self-adjustments during competition. Larry also enjoys analyzing game statistics to guide lineup decision-making, pinpoint player developmental needs, and measure progress against team and personal goals.
Larry is an aerospace engineer for Orbital Sciences in Dulles and lives in Reston with his wife Kelly and cats Katness and Lohtsi, with two girls in college, Dory and Kary.
14s Blaze Staff
Head Coach Mahrya O'Connor Delaney - Coach Mahrya has been coaching for 15 years throughout many of the local clubs. She grew up playing for MVSA volleyball, where she led her team to 2 National bids. She was the starting setter for her 1997-1998 4A Maryland State Championship team. She participated in the club volleyball program at Ohio University in Athens, OH where she earned a BA in Business and Sociology. After college, she immediately got into coaching as volleyball and teaching our youth have always been a passion of hers. Coach Mahrya has been coaching 14s since 2005 for various clubs throughout the region. Her teams have consistently performed in the top 15 of the region and she has brought the MOJO Cup home twice since MOJO Elite's beginning.
Coach Mahrya is IMPACT certified, SafeSport, Art of Coaching and Gold Medal Squared trained.
Asst Coach Jessica Whitten - Coach Jessica developed her love for volleyball growing up in Omaha, NE, home of the 2015 NCAA Championship team. She was an outside hitter and DS for her high school team. She attended college at the University of Wyoming where she earned her degree in Business and Marketing. This is Coach Jessica's 3rd year with MOJO Elite.
Coach Jessica is IMPACT Certified and SafeSport trained.

Head Coach Mike Alexander - Coach Mike has been coaching volleyball for 10 years. He coached for 4 years with Columbia Volleyball Club in Columbia, MD. This will be Coach Mike's fifth year with MOJO Elite. He is currently the Head Coach at Dr. Henry Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and has held that position for the last 8 years.
In High School, Coach Mike was a 3 sport athlete, playing Basketball, Football and Track & Field all 4 years. Coach Mike attended Edinboro Univeristy of PA where he played club volleyball, and ran Track & Field for 4 years. Coach Mike went on to play Semi-professional Football for 2 years post-college. Coach Mike LOVEs to coach AND play! He has been dominating various levels of volleyball for the past 12 years, sand, grass, and indoor.
Coach Mike is certified in IMPACT and SafeSport. He has his CAP I certification as well as being our in-house referee. He is a Junior National Referee.

13s Heat and Flames Staff
Heat Head Coach and Technical Director John Delaney -John Delaney is going into his 26th year as a volleyball coach. He started in 1990 as a student assistant coach with his high school's varsity volleyball team. In 1995, he was the junior varsity head coach at Niagara Falls High School, after which he started coaching club volleyball at Cheetah/Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club (WEVA).
In 2000, he became the head coach of the American University Club Volleyball team. Upon returning to Western New York, he continued working with Niagara Frontier and coached the Niagara County Community College (NJCAA) volleyball team. In 2007, he moved back to Maryland and began working with the Bay Area Volleyball Club (BAVA 13/14s/16s) for 3 seasons, then moved on to the Arlington Volleyball Club (12s), while also developing beginners through their youth leagues. He also became the Washington-Lee Varsity Head Coach in 2010, winning the school's first district title in 2014.
In 2012, he founded the MOJO Volleyball Academy, which has developed many volleyball players from McLean, Arlington, and Alexandria areas. He is active in youth development in volleyball and has coached the MOJO's 12s and 13s programs for 5 seasons.
Coach John was an elementary physical education teacher for 17 years, before switching to 4th grade classroom teaching this year. He is married to his lovely wife Mahrya, has a daughter named Monreaux, and two dogs, Buckley and Petey. He plays golf, ice hockey, and loves the New York Rangers, New York Mets, and Buffalo Bills.
Heat Asst Coach Eva Muszynski - Eva is entering her 1st year with MOJO Elite, but has coached with MOJO Volleyball's summer programs since 2011. Eva was a 3 year varsity player with Yorktown High School and helped lead her team to the VA High School League's National District Championship her senior year. After high school, Eva went on to study Marine Biology at the University of Miami. Now she works for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as a research assistant.

Flames Head Coach Mike Gimon - Coach Gimon is entering his 14th year as Chesapeake High School's (CHC) head coach. Coach Gimon has 23 years of coaching experience ranging from youth league (United States Youth Volleyball League) to Middle School League to club (U12's, U13's and U14's) to varsity athletics. Coach Gimon is also the assistant athletic director with CHC and the State Tournament Director for the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association. Coach Gimon is IMPACT certified and Gold Medal Squared trained. He is also our parent liaison, if you have a question or concern regarding MOJO policy, he is your point of contact.
Flames Asst Coach Coach Jourdan Jones - Coach Jourdan was a 4 year varsity athlete with Northern High School in Owings, MD. She was recruited by Alderson Broaddus University as a defensive specialist, but ended up being utilized as a setter throughout her tenure there. She is a former player of Coach Mike and Coach Mahrya when they coached together in 2007 and the perfect addition to the MOJO staff.
12s Sparks and Ignite Staff
Sparks Head Coach Coach Annie Baratto - Annie is heading into her 5th season with MOJO Elite. She grew up in Salinas, California playing volleyball on the beaches of Monterey. Once you meet Coach Annie, you'll never forget her; she is part of the heart and soul of this organization. She started as a parent of a successful club volleyball player and saw all the rewards that coaching has to offer. She helped start MOJO Elite in 2011 as the head coach of MOJO Sparks. Coach Annie has gone on to lead her 2013 team to a MOJO Cup victory. Also that year, she helped lead the Thomas Jefferson High School Colonials to their Capital Conference Championship, bringing their first volleyball banner into the gym.
Coach Annie is IMPACT certified, SafeSport trained, and our hotel coordinator.
Sparks Asst Coach Lindsey Hunter - Coach Lindsey is in her 2nd year with MOJO Elite. She grew up playing volleyball in the Northern Virginia area. She went on to college at Virginia Tech, where she was an active participant in the club team. Her team participated in the Gold Bracket of the NCVF National tournament. Coach Lindsey and Coach Annie are the perfect duo to bring the love of volleyball to MOJO Elite youth.
Coach Lindsey is IMPACT certified and SafeSport trained.
Ignite Head Coach Jun Cordoba - this is Jun's 3rd year with MOJO Elite. He has truly learned from the best. His first year he assisted MOJO Ignite with Head Coach Mike Alexander. The next year he was fortunate enough to work with Technical Director and all around great guy, John Delaney. Together they led Ignite to a 9th place finish at Revolutionary Rumble, the best finish in Ignite history. Jun has learned from the best and will be leading this Ignite group this year.
